Sheets and plates of maraging steel are ultra-high-strength alloys with a majority content of iron and nickel with minor additions of cobalt, molybdenum, and titanium. In contrast to the conventional steels, they are hardened by aging heat treatment instead of carbon level, with yield strengths generally between 1400 and 2100 MPa and tensile strengths greater than 2000 MPa. The steels are excellent in terms of toughness, have good weldability, and dimension stability, with low carbon levels reducing the risk of cracking during manufacturing. Their special characteristics enable machining and forming prior to aging hardening, allowing for intricate shapes and accurate components.
